Loss of Power

I have a Rinker Fiesta Vee 250 with a Mercruiser 350 MPI Horizon engine.  All of a sudden when I start going the boat will go up to 3300 rpm but no faster than 12 MPH.  Reading on line they mention spun propeller hub.  But mine appears ok.  The gear lube oil reserve looks brownish with white froth on top.  Could there be water from seal leak?  Temp of engine looks ok and no audio alarm.

Sounds like you have an outdrive issue. The fluid should be blue with no froth of foam. When the lube mixes with water, it turns a milky brown color. It could have damaged the bearings causing excessive friction, and losss of power. I hope I am wrong, but I believe you are looking at an outdrive rebuild/replace.

As jhofmann said or could be an engine coupler. If you do not know what they look like here is an example link below.  You probly will not have a spun prop. take it off and look at it.

It ended up being what raybo3 mentioned above!  The bottom of boat and outdrive were covered in barnacles.  Once scraped and power washed boat runs fine.  Previous owner didn't use a great bottom paint.
