We'll winterize this week.  Even though our summer got hijacked by recovery from our house fire, we still managed to get underway 40 times, and we put 75 hours on the boat.  It's below-average for us, but still a decent year.

We took a really nice final cruise this weekend.  Went to MGM National Harbor for a concert.  The show was fantastic ... Joe Bonamassa, one of the world's great guitar legends.  I couldn't care less about the casino, but the Theater is an outstanding music venue.

Grabbed this shot of MGM as we left the next morning.

@LaRea - good thing it wasn't this coming Saturday.  The temps will be pretty cool this weekend.  Only thing as good as going to a concert by boat, is listening to it from your boat.  (My favorite was Pat Benatar at Pier Six in Baltimore)  Just think, next time you use your boat, you should be back in the house with it all like new!!

I didn’t get to go boating this evening, but I did see a few out on the Potomac. It was a beautiful evening in our nation’s capital.

We've had 6+ inches of snow already.  Supposed to be 8 degrees tonight.  What the heck happened to fall?

Yes winter is here... the air has finally cooled off here. Having a blast as a former North Eastener in FL. Heard some locals call it cold. Please.... the boat was reporting a water temp of 80 degrees!!

Took the ski out for a ride yesterday...and had an unexpected visitor..

Looking at these types of pics do nothing to warm me up on 20 degree nights and 40 degree high days.  Maybe it will kill some fleas, ticks and mosquitoes?

During the summer you can find manatee around the marinas in south Carolina and even further north. Used to be one that came up into the santee copper and took up residence there for a while.  They are rare to see but they are around.  If one finds a power plant spill way(warm water source) it can and will stay all winter.

I don't know about the rest of the keys but in marathon if you're in one of the cleaner canals the are everywhere.  I have not seen them back in the canals that dont get a good circulation from the tides.  The kcb small bay has tons and will dart to your boat while washing down or even a pea stream from a running outboard.  They love boat wash downs.    The locals can guide you to the warmer spots they will congregate in during the winter.

No doubt. One made it through the locks into lake marion.  Feasted like a king all summer but couldn't get out to migrate south and died when the weather turned. They usually watch the locks closely to prevent it from happening.

They are everywhere here in FL...not sure why they are listed as endangered any more....I don't think they are even native to us....but they are darn cute! Just don't get caught touching one....

Plenty of sea turtles to see in the keys as well.  There was one feeding on seagrass at the horse shoe. It's a little spot you can pull off on Hwy 1 on i think little torch and walk to and snorkel around in an hour or two.  Good free entertainment.  Great place to stop before heading to (i think big pine) to see the pigmy key deer.  Smaller than my dogs.  They will walk right up to your car.

Don't get caught watering the manatee or feeding them either.  The little lady tried to squirt one with the water hose as i was turning the boat around on the sea wall to scare them off and they just turned belly up and opened their mouths.

from a previous post of mine....under a dock where water is dripping...you know being a mammal they can't drink salt water...so all the fluid they get is from what they eat. So any fresh water source is a pleasure I'm sure!
