    The packaging that Merc sends them in is garbage. Thin box (not corrugated cardboard) with no padding or other protective measures.

    New water heater installed. Mounted it on some starboard strips to get it off the shelf a bit. 

    Also added a platform to make ingress/egress easier. Next week will replace the fuel line to get it out of the way.

    I like the step. I was thinking something similar but hinged to gain access under it if needed.  
    What I don't like is how clean your bilge always is.  Shame on you...    ;)

    I don’t have anything underneath the step to access but I am considering adding a baffle just below the hatch ram so that I can use that space for storing fluids (maybe trim fluid and drive oil?) so a hinged lid would be smart!

    What’s the best method for sealing wires coming out of the arch? I just spent half an hour removing all the silicone (yes, silicone  :#) that the PO used. Are the little clamshell covers still preferred?

    Got new shift and throttle cables installed today. The cables that I removed were 20’ and 23’. 

    It rained most of the day today so it was a great time to fix arch leaks! I sealed off all the offenders and got the solar panels wired up as well. 

    Also sealed the fresh water intake and transom lights.

    What is the Grey Box above the charger? and why a loose negative battery cable hanging below the charger. Plus, after seeing your photos, I need to clean my negative bus bar.   :#

    The grey box is the BMV 712 battery monitor. All the data comes thru the app so I didn’t bother mounting it somewhere visible. 



    The negative cable is the original negative cable that goes from the house battery to my envy-inducing negative bus bar. I replaced it with a new negative cable that runs from the battery to the VictronConnect shunt and then to the bus bar. I prefer the bolt-on battery cables to the clamp on style.

    Has anyone found a good replacement for the incandescent indirect lights in the v berth? I’ve tried a few different LED strips and they’re too bright.

    The aft cleats had no caulk whatsoever. For 13 years, water has been leaking into the plywood backing and rotting it out. All of the brown stains are from the cleat. I drilled a drain hole and got soaked! Hopefully it will dry out over time.

    Both aft cleats on mine had same problem when I got boat.  Over the course of many weeks that summer I got them dried out ( a lot of hair drier time at the dock), filled, redrilled, and caulked with butyl.

    I got the dash panel done. Custom laser cut acrylic. Now working on the GPS panel.

    There are already several autopilot threads so I will just add my setup here:

    Simrad GO12
    Simrad NAC-2 with Precision 9 compass
    Octopus OCTAFMDRESYSA drive unit
    Octopus     OC15SUK27E rudder feedback module

    As per Octopus, “    You no longer need the frequency converter for the NAC-2, only for the NAC-3 and older Simrad Pilots” so I did not order a frequency converter. 

    Will post pics of the install!

    @YYZRC yes, unless dry rot has set-in it will dry out over time but that can take quite a while so don't seal those holes up until you have used a moisture meter or transducers to check your hull.

    Looking good!

    Are you getting a dedicated autopilot controller such as the AP44, or are you planning to control it via the touchscreen?  Mine is similar to the AP44, with a rotary knob to adjust heading.  I find it much more convenient than reaching for the main MFD screen.  

    You might also consider a wireless controller like the OP10, which you could put anywhere.
