Harbor Freight Generator

I just picked this up today, was surprised how quiet it is even with a load. I always wanted a small generator but prices are high, once I saw this I figured I should give it a shot. Should come in handy around the house, camping and maybe even take it out on the boat with me.

I was thinking the same thing when it first came out. A slightly higher watt rating than the Honda 2000i at half the price. Some of the reviewers had issues at first, but it seemed most of them were able to solve it themselves, or exchange it. I am interested to see how you like it, as I may buy one for next season for my 2000 FV 242. I understand the 2000i will power the A/C unit if needed.

    I also have a 242 (2001) but no AC.

Yan, I've had great luck with power tools from HF. I just research the **** out of the item before I buy.

If you'll depend on it running ALL night for a/c then I'd spring for the Honda and keep the momma happy. There isn't really anything about the HF version that resembles the quality of the 2000i......and it's re-sellable at very close to the purchase price if maintained. The HF unit is an extra anchor when it stops, especially after the shrill howling from an unhappy admiral at 3am on a smokin hot night. Just tie it to your ankle and jump in after it if that happens.

Let us know how it lasts, I may be wrong but the 2000i has a pretty stellar reputation.

    Just sayin', Mike

I have gotten some HF stuff that I've been very happy with.  I think the genny from there would be fine for home stuff, but I gotta agree with Tiki (man, I've said that too many times lately!).  The Honda is really the way to go if you are going to use it on the boat.

A lot of their tools are the same as other brands but with different cases. If you do a google search for the generator you will see a few come up with different color cases and different brands.
