Typical hours seen

what kind of hours are you guys seeing on your engines and drives?   I have several customers with well over 1000 hrs on their 496 Bravo 3.   The commercial customers I inspect and replace whatever is needed once a year on the bravo drives usually around 1000 to 1200 hrs.  I know of one gear set that had over 4,000 hrs    Just wondering what others are logging.

    I got between 750 and 850 before I replaced mine. I also had bracket problems.

    Well, you don't want to include my numbers.  I've gone thru 3 bravo 2 drives (1 stbd, 2 port) in 7 years (just replaced one last week after hitting something submerged, in 20+ ft of water).

    My '07 has 800 hours on the engines.  One B3 is original, and the other was replaced at 600 hours.

    2003 342 with 600 hrs on the engines.  One drive was sent in last year for a full overhaul and the other needs to be done this year.  The guy i worked with in MI said that 6-800 hrs is about tops for the drives before they get rebuilt.

    original 1993 engines and alpha 1 gen 2 drives still going. Drives have a bit of corrosion,engines still have full compression and dont burn oil.

    What are the signs a Bravo III needs a rebuild?  I would imagine saltwater vs freshwater usage is a huge differential?

    2005  342  390 hours had my drives reseal last spring and pray they have many more hours.

    255 original hours on my 350 mag  & Bravo 3 drive.  I had the drive gone thru when I bought the boat at 173 hours. Bellows, Gimbal, seals, boots, etc.

    I think I was not much past 100 hrs and both B-III outdrives were destroyed. No hits/groundings. Never really got an answer why....I can only think that being overpropped caused it. Brutal cost at that low hours.

    Handy, the Volvo diesels we deal with at I
    6 and all three have over 6,000 hrs.  They are due for freshen up at 10,000.  The Cummins 5.9 has just over 1,800 at the last oil change.  The Cummins is only  on its second season.

     Unless an unforeseen gear or shaft breakage.  The typical sign of needed repair is a very “soft” shift. Slippage going into gear is an indicator and consistency to adjust the shift cable.  The new cone clutch is much better though

    @alswagg , do the newer Bravo drives have a different whine sound when clicked in gear?  I just had a new B-2 drive installed about 2 weeks ago and it definitely has a whine to it in gear than the other.  Another buddy had a B-3 one installed last year and it sounds identical.  Just curious what the change was for that to happen.  The whine is only there in gear at slow speed (or only hear then).

    I have not noticed any different sounds. However, I have not replaced any complete drives with a 2019 drive     The clutches are now the same as the x drives

    freshwater
    maintenance stuff = oil changes=plugs=wires=etc
    bravo3 = fluid changes=bellows=shift cable etc

    My 99 270 just passed 700 hours with original engine and B3 drive.

    2000  FV270. 5.7L EFI Gen +
    B3 Drive.Stock Props.
    390 Hours.
    Motor untouched and runs like a champ. 60PSI oil pressure. 
    Changed gimbal bearing, seals, bellows, cables last year. All drive internals original.
    Some corrosion on lower case from P.O. installing Aluminum anodes (fresh water) and Mercathode not working properly so changed those out last year also and repainted drive.
