Horn wiring issues

I have a 1992 260 Fiesta V where the two horn wires exit the deck just forward of the windshield and behind the starboard hatch. 1 pair of the wires broke off flush with the deck and shorted out taking the fuse with it. I want to replace these wires and install a single horn. It looks like the wires run under the headliner. Do I need to remove the headliner to access these wires? do they wind up going over the ceiling of the head?

I'm only familiar with newer boats, but you'll probably need to partially remove the headliner enough to reach the wires. It's usually pretty easy ... pop the plastic cap off the screw head, and remove the screw.

More than likely you will have to drop the headliner.

Duck tape wire to hood of boat.

LOL.....had that duck tape on for two seasons. Now I'm fighting to remove the glue!

LOL... I was just kidding, Could you unhook your existing wire and hook it to the new wire and pull the new wire through? Test by unhooking the old one pull slightly back and forth, to see if you have free movement, without loosing the end of it. Takes two people. go easy with it.

My horn issue has taken a "back seat" to a high speed overheat on my "new" 5.8 Mercruiser with 43 hours on it.
