V Berth Portholes

It looks like my portholes in the  V Berth are leaking.  I’m getting water in the area underneath. I removed the screws around the plastic trim ring on the inside of the port side. The trim ring is pretty snug and I am concerned about the outer pieces falling off into the water so I buttoned it back up and came here for advice.
As usual any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Ken

The chrome ring on the out side is screwed in to a plywood ring around the window inside the hull. Ypu will need to cut out the sealant between the chome and plastic to separate them also be very careful with the vinyl on the inside. Most have had success leaving the chrome ring and just resealing the gap.

I resealed mine by digging out the sealant between the white plastic ring and the stainless beauty ring. I then resealed that part and my water issues have gone away. I also resealed where the bow rail meets the deck.

So, I don’t need to remove anything? Just remove the old sealant and redo it? Is that from the inside or outside?

@reneechris14 so are you saying remove the screws on the inside which will free up the chrome on the outside so it can be removed and recaulked?

If you remove the screws on the inside the white plastic will come to the in side after the sealant is picked out or cut, carefull off the vinyl. Then there are 4 screws holding the chrome piece from the in side. Most of the leaks are between the white and crome.

So from the photo above, there are maybe 5 screws to remove, that will release the inside white plastic piece, which will expose another 4 screws which will release the outer chrome piece?

    Yes that is correct

Looks like I was successful in doing all of them from the outside.  We’ve had a couple good storms since and I don’t see any water inside. Thanks for the advice.
