  Yep the Seastar will work great. I installed one in my boat.

  I'm on the tdi forum.  I have a 5 speed converted tdi BHW passat and currently swapping a BHW tdi into an 86 4runner

  OK, now, will I need the trim only option, or trim and tilt?  I have never even tried to start this motor, so don't exact know how this works.  thanks

  The tilt trim button is the up/down on the top of that lever.  That's if your wiring/solenoids/trim hydralic system works.  I dont know how the trialer limit works on omc.

  Also bad/damaged/rusted shift cables are more common than a bad shifter.  I've never worked on an omc but i hear the cable adjustment takes natural born talent.

  I guess i should try it out first, once motor is in, it just looks like garbage, with the exposed wires.  I could add the cables to an order, if they are bad, rusted, etc.

  Teleflex also makes the cables, I think you'll need measurements
