  @laureniac1 does your other engine have the same thing? Compare the two, maybe a clip fell off that keeps the two half’s together.

  Yes other engine has same device- no clips totally stumped

  Just be leery of buying from Crowley Marine. I personally had a bad experience. They showed everything I needed as in stock or ready to ship (stuff I couldn't find anywhere else) - so I ordered and after waiting two months I had to contact my credit card company to challenge the order and get a refund because everything was "in process" every time I'd check. Do a search for "crowley marine reviews" and see what comes up.
  
  Note they are different from "Crowley's Yacht Yard" which is a highly respected yard in Chicago.
