We have geico, 850 po year

25k agreed value
300k uninsured
300k liability
10k medical per person per incident
1 mil fuel spill

I'm checking with progressive who is a smidgen higher, little less on the coverage but has their "sign and glide" on water service- I've never heard of it- I have seatow which is 160 per year I think...

Are they about the same? I did have my gauges stolen and got it handled well.

How about SeaInsure, it will be discontinued I believe since you have SeaTow. I have SeaInsure, no complaints but I haven’t had to use them.

I had an awful experience with Progressive on a boat.  They denied a perfectly valid claim.  I disputed it, and still they denied it.  It was so bad, I canceled all of my policies with them.  I'd recommend shopping elsewhere

Is this normal for or because it's Florida?  I presume oceanic ops and hurricanes present another risk, but yikes, my inland policy is significantly less expensive.

I've had geico since we got the boat, one claim. If I understood my policy better I probably would not have filed it- my deductibles were 0 for no claims...trickery but should have known it. The progressive policy also included a disappearing deductible.  And no, I am not familiar with these other companies. I thought it odd that it did not seem to matter if it stayed in the water or not- the progressive the first time I ran the numbers I did not mention a trailer...and yes florida insurance is horrible no matter what- the policy is on. These last round was stacking boats like cord wood. There is, however, no requirement I can recall to have insurance to register our boat- I'm sure a good chunk of the pile are not or under insured. The 1 million fuel spill I'm told is req'd. No clue how many just run with nothing- but I'm guessing alot if it's anything like auto insurance.  Uninsured/under insured motorist is a must on the boat and our vehicles. We are 45 miles inland but our town is on the st johns river- it floods but even after record floods no where near me.

In Canada, many of our marinas require CAD 2 million liability before they'd let you dock there.  Is USD 300k enough?

Well @MarkB I guess it depends on what you own and what you plan on running in to! I don't think I saw an option for a higher amount.  If I did get sued, as an example, they could not take my primary residence- if I owned other properties they could go after that...retirement accounts are also well protected...so while I want to have a responsible amount of insurance I can't get to crazy!

Ras my coverage is similar to yours, with a $2500 emergency on-water and roadside assistance on top $483 a year through American Family.

Everything is by zip code in Florida. I live south of Ras and pay about 200 more for about the same coverage.
