Volvo DPS-A driveshaft seal

Question if anyone has come across this. I have DPS-drives new in 2021 approx. 200 hours. Driveshaft seals are leaking. When I disassembled the driveshaft to change the seal the double lip seal has worn a groove in the yoke. Groove is deep enough that the oil will bypass right away.

Option 1 new driveshaft and change seals
Option 2 I can remove the yoke from u joint on drive side and and have it chromoly to harden the surface and bring to spec.

Groove is deep enough that the oil will bypass right away.

I am seeing this happening to many drives out there has anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks

    Google Speedy sleeve
If you can measure the correct size it will correct your issue extremely cheap. I’ve used them many times to correct issues like this.

Thanks, that was one of my other thoughts. I did order one today and it is the correct size. Im concerned it may shred that as well and possibly leave debris. I have used those in automotive applications. The Volvo double lip seal actually has a coating on one of the lips and is pretty abrasive reason why the driveshaft is so grooved down.

I pulled the other shaft out and it’s not as bad but on its way. Two drives now that have the same problem

Also, instead of a speedy sleeve you might be able to find a different seal with a different profile, then the seal will ride on the good surface.

Update…. had the yokes chromoly treated and sized to spec. Worked great . Will reassemble this week. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue. Will pack grease in between the inner and outer part of the seal to hopefully keep it lubricated enough.
