Out of gas

Me again, Okay hopefully this is the last time with a new problem that I will have for awhile.
I haven’t took my boat out since the season before last and I went by last weekend and started my generator and let my engines run as I every now and then. Well the generator stopped and one of the engines stopped from running out of gas I assume. The other did not. My gauge is not digital and apparently is not accurate but the other engine did keep running why wouldn’t it have picked up off the other gas tank?

The generator and one motor run off the same tank. On mine there are 3 valves in the fuel lines. One for each tank and on cross over. The generator pickup is higher in the tank then the engine pickup to keep the generator from leaving you with no gas to get home. So one of two things come to my mind that might be the cause. Either the tank with both ran low and stopped the generator and the other tank is empty or the tank with both engine and generator has bad gas from sitting. You can run off one tank by closing the valve on one you don’t want to draw from and opening the crossover valve
