@raybo3 - I am a transplanted Philly boy who has been living in New England for more than 15 years. I married a Boston girl who bleeds Boston. I bleed Philly, especially Kelly Green. The 2018 Super Bowl was hard for her. Great for me, but you want to talk about a divided house...

I am like to think I am a very perceptive person. Love the Boston area, one of my favorite cities ever. Very similar North East fan base. Very passionate. I do feel at home. I love Philly with all my heart and while I am allowed to speak bad about Philly from time to time, I will not allow anyone else to do so. In that way Boston is very similar. Additionally, from a sports perspective, Philly and Boston are not really rivals (for the most part), so there is definitely some respect in that aspect. (Yes you can argue the Flyers and the Broad Street Bullies, but honestly, the Flyers haven't been a real threat for Decades. The Sixers/Celtics? Same thing, IMO, not since Bird and Dr. J or Andrew Toney.

So what is my point in all of this? Again, now that the Patriots are "BACK", I need to point something out. Early on as a transplant here in Boston, one of the things that I noticed as was the New Englander hate for the Yankees. Hey, I get it, they are the rival. But the hate was that the Yankees were the EVIL EMPIRE. The Evil Empire was everything that Boston hated and stood against.

But then, one day...the Patriots became that same Evil Empire. The Patriots became the Yankees of football. But no one from New England seemed to notice the similarity.

Hmmm...told my wife this observation, she told me to go pound sand.

Now with all of that said, she watches the Phillies with me and she watches the Eagles (she loves Big Dom), and we are all good...unless of course our paths cross again in a World Series or Super Bowl.

In any case, I just want to let you know that I will be rooting for the Patriots next weekend. Vrabel is gold and glad he's back where he belongs!

    Great analysis, and funny!

Tribalism is the essence of modern sports.  I've said it here before ... in modern sports, my tribe is Good and True.  All other tribes are Bad and False.  My NFL tribe (Washington Commanders) had a terrible season, giving me the right to hate all the other teams!  (Not the Patriots)

A friend of mine had some good years racing sports cars.  He got along great with all of the other drivers and teams ... right up until he won a bunch of races.  Then he became the Evil Empire!
