@raybo3 - I am a transplanted Philly boy who has been living in New England for more than 15 years. I married a Boston girl who bleeds Boston. I bleed Philly, especially Kelly Green. The 2018 Super Bowl was hard for her. Great for me, but you want to talk about a divided house...

I am like to think I am a very perceptive person. Love the Boston area, one of my favorite cities ever. Very similar North East fan base. Very passionate. I do feel at home. I love Philly with all my heart and while I am allowed to speak bad about Philly from time to time, I will not allow anyone else to do so. In that way Boston is very similar. Additionally, from a sports perspective, Philly and Boston are not really rivals (for the most part), so there is definitely some respect in that aspect. (Yes you can argue the Flyers and the Broad Street Bullies, but honestly, the Flyers haven't been a real threat for Decades. The Sixers/Celtics? Same thing, IMO, not since Bird and Dr. J or Andrew Toney.

So what is my point in all of this? Again, now that the Patriots are "BACK", I need to point something out. Early on as a transplant here in Boston, one of the things that I noticed as was the New Englander hate for the Yankees. Hey, I get it, they are the rival. But the hate was that the Yankees were the EVIL EMPIRE. The Evil Empire was everything that Boston hated and stood against.

But then, one day...the Patriots became that same Evil Empire. The Patriots became the Yankees of football. But no one from New England seemed to notice the similarity.

Hmmm...told my wife this observation, she told me to go pound sand.

Now with all of that said, she watches the Phillies with me and she watches the Eagles (she loves Big Dom), and we are all good...unless of course our paths cross again in a World Series or Super Bowl.

In any case, I just want to let you know that I will be rooting for the Patriots next weekend. Vrabel is gold and glad he's back where he belongs!

    Great analysis, and funny!

Tribalism is the essence of modern sports.  I've said it here before ... in modern sports, my tribe is Good and True.  All other tribes are Bad and False.  My NFL tribe (Washington Commanders) had a terrible season, giving me the right to hate all the other teams!  (Not the Patriots)

A friend of mine had some good years racing sports cars.  He got along great with all of the other drivers and teams ... right up until he won a bunch of races.  Then he became the Evil Empire!

@johnny44 I am a die hard Boston sports fan and the Red Sox vs Yankee's things goes beyond sports so to speak. I am not a traveler and haven't been to many games out side of Boston. However I have been to Yankee stadium and I must tell you, I felt my life was in my hands there. Not good, the fans were horrendous. I had my 2 sons with me and was actually worried they were going to be injured. The name, language, things being thrown at us. Just a horrible experience. Then I went back a few years later with some friends and same thing. My sister went one year with a bunch of female friends and they needed a police escort out of the stadium. It's stories like that that makes the Yankees the Evil Empire. I listen to tons of sports talk in Boston and there are many stories like this. BTW I have been to many Sox/Yanks games at Fenway and there is a lot of Yankees sucks and bantering going on but nothing like The Stadium...... Now to the Steelers, what the heII were they thinking not using and finally letting Vrable go? Guy came to the Pat's and was a stud from day one.... The old saying "some peoples junk is other peoples gold". So true.................... Go Pat's

@raybo3 I’m not a huge baseball fan but do root for the Yankees. It’s a known fact here in NY not to go to a Boston vs Yankees game at Fenway wearing any Yankees gear unless you want to be heckled. I would think it’s common knowledge for Boston fans to do the same at Yankees stadium. I did go to a Mets Boston game at Fenway once for a friend’s bachelor party. They were mostly all mets fans and some had Mets jerseys and hats on, same thing. Got heckled all night. Walking the streets and then in the bars was the same, felt like we needed body guards. It’s a New York / Boston thing.

I'll say this about Boston sports fans:  you guys spend more time talking about sports than any other place I've ever been.

Take ANY Bruins game, no matter how boring ... by the next morning, there will have been more words spoken, written, analyzed, and over-analyzed than in the entire history of Capitals games.  Say what you will, but Boston fans know sports!

@aero3113 being heckled and needing a police escort are 2 different things. When I went with my boys we weren't wearing sox gear but they were rooting for their home town team. I have a hard time believing that young boys from NY would get heckled like that at Fenway but I could be wrong. A bachelor party might be a different story........ Just say'n

Being that I get up at 5am during the work week, I went to bed at halftime.  Obviously didn't miss much.  The college football national championship was so much better

Didn't watch much of game but had too much fun as well. Hard to get up this morning. Why don't they have the game on Saturday night? Would make things so much better.

I bet high on total points scored. Unfortunately for me, Bad Bunny ran more yards than the Patriots. (Sorry Ray, you knew somebody was gonna say it!)

That Seahawk defense is for real! :o
I feel for Drake Maye, but he'll do fine in the future if they can give him an O line.

If the stupid patriots would have kicked the extra point on the last TD would have hit my pool. They must know I’m a Jets fan and just keep kicking me when I’m down LOL

Not making excuses they played like total $hit but Drake had to have a shot in his shoulder and couldn't throw, Campbell was playing on one leg (bad knee) and both inside LBers probably shouldn't have played. But I like this team and Drake should be a stud for at least the next 10 years
