We are looking to add chain for our boat. We're not sure how much chain our windless will hold.

    If your existing rode is the usual 30' of chain plus 150' of rope, you can probably add at least 30' of chain.  Maybe a bit more.

    It's not your windlass, but the storage beneath it and the weight of it (but weight in the front would generally help keep bow down). Just make sure that area it's all going into is beefed up enough (it should be ok) to hold the weight. The more chain the better holding power.
