2004 Rinker Fiesta Vee 250 - Waste tank

Dear Rinker experts,

I have had the pleasure of owning this vessel for three years. She is fitted with an electric flush Jabesco? toilet. I am having trouble pumping out at the marina. When nozzle is attached, I wait for a vacuum to build before opening the valve. At this point, waste is being sucked out. This lasts for probably 10 seconds then waste movement stops. I close the valve again and repeat. It seems it would take forever to empty in this manner. Firstly, Is this normal? Should I be 'opening' a valve on the boat somewhere?

Where is the waste tank situated on the boat? And finally, where is the seacock to release the waste offshore I am in the UK).

Any help or pointers would be appreciated. Regards Grant

    Also, do you have a macerator pump to discharge waste off shore?

    Thanks Handymans342. Where is the vent? I don't even know where the tank is atm! Not sure about macerator pump. Is that separate from the toilet pump? Sounds like it could be 'mashing' something when bowl is emptied with switch.

    The vent should be next to the pumpout fitting. The macerator pump, if you have one, would be near the 3 way valve which would have to be opened to pump overboard while running the pump. Look for a switch or breaker that says macerator. My breaker is in my engine bay. Your toilet sounds like it has a grinder pump on the bottom which would grind the waste before sending it to the waste tank.

    Yes do that. You need to understand your entire boat and every system. For bloody sakes man! LOL

    B) I have seen lots of the boat already, lol. Already had a repower, new drive, numerous GRP repairs. It's like a brand new boat!

    Assuming your 2004 FV250 has the same layout as my 2006, the waste tank is on the starboard side of the engine compartment, a big squarish white plastic tank. So if you open the engine hatch and you are facing the stern of the boat, it is to the left of the engine.

    I never put #2 solids in my tank. I do have a macerator but never have used it. The switch is on the cockpit wall between the sink and the rear lazarette. My tank valve, which is located on the top of the tank, is permanently zip tied in the closed position and nothing ever goes over the side. On a side topic, dumping anything from a waste tank at Avalon Harbor on Catalina Island would get me a one year ban, here on the mainland a fine, and I sure as heck don't want that. A Harbor Patrol officer boards your boat prior to mooring, inspects the valve and drops a dye tab in your toilet to ensure compliance. As the say "the dye don't lie."

    The pump out has always been quick and effective. The pumps I used are fairly new and have great power, but I'm only sucking liquid you understand. Good luck.

    I honestly don't know where the vent is without going down to the boat and looking at it...which will be next week at the earliest. I've never paid attention to it because I've not had a problem pumping out.

    Andyd, If you do locate the waste tank vent next week, please let me know. I may find mine before you. I suspect handymans342 is right that mine may be blocked, on the basis that the pump out tube with valve open stops as no air is getting in through the vent......

    The vent on my 06 250 is just above the pump out fitting. I just bought the boat last year and it wouldn't pump out correctly without moving the valve in the bilge. It must have been stuck because after we got the waist flowing the first time it's been fine ever since

    Here's a photo of the vent right above the waste pump out on my '06 FV250. As you can see, it has suffered the effects of salt water for ten years.
