chemical strip the outdrive

Hi, My name is Steve and Im a lazy SOB.
I want NEED to paint the outdrive, instead of sanding it down, would there be any damage done if I were to just hit it with some chemical paint stripper to pull all the old paint off?

    I tried a little of that.  Imo, Very messy and it's hard to get the bare  aluminum clean enough to prep for the alodine treatment.  Sandblasting by far was the easiest, least time consuming and most cost effective for me.  You can check one of my discussions I posted earlier this year.

    I was thinking just apply the stripper,let it sit then hit it with a power washer, scuff the surface and repaint.  A sand blaster is really not an option for me.

    I would think you would put as much elbow grease into scrubbing with chemical as you would sanding. But I have only sanded so maybe not.  With the 80 grit the paint comes off easily.  I sanded mine in a few hours.  The PITA was raising and lowering the drive so yo could get to every spot.
