Pitot tube

Changing my speedometer this weekend to a new GPS model. Should I plug the pitot tube at the disconnect in the drive and remove the rubber tube leading to the dash or just plug it under the dash with a screw in the tube?

I would say behind the dash. It gets up to 30psi , could blow of the cap and spray water. Just my 2€

I would plug it at the dash in case there is a rare chance that you want to use it again.

Unplug at water pickup and no pressure issues
if needed again it’s still there

Thanks for the input. Not planning to go back but I think it would be a chore to pull the tube clear out and at 30psi I would be concerned about a leak inside the cabin so unplugging it in the drive and leaving seems the best so far.

Having explored this tube pretty thoroughly, I would find a section where the tube runs along the to of the transom, cut, fold over and secure with a zip tie. That way you above the water line. You could disconnect the lower tube from outside the transom but I'd say you can't remove the hole section with the drive on...
