Hose clamp rant

Replaced my AC pump today...took me probably 30 - 45 minutes longer because I couldn't get at a hose clamp screw / head.  It was in the worst possible position

When installing a hose clamp make sure the clamp screw head is facing the direction where it can be easy to get at.

Okay...rant over.

Years ago I worked in a garage that specialized in radiator repair, and we removed alot of hose clamps. We had pliers that were designed to cut hose clamps. They looked like diaginal pliers with notches right by the tips that would dig under the clamp and cut it. I believe they came off a Snap-On truck.

@icoultha - agree.  But if the person installing the clamp pays attention an extension and wobble attachment works well.

@skennelly true, I may get it undone that way but making sure it's secured correctly way up there is my concern. If I get it out I'll be cutting a small slot below the hole to allow for the clamp head screw to pass through.

Those clamp screw locations made perfect sense when building the boat. lol. I have had to cut a few myself.
