@skennelly - That looks like Burnham. Do you know if he hit the rocks at the harbor mouth at the south end of Northerly Island - and then beached it at the ramp when he realized he was taking on water?
Wow, that sucks. I've never been a fan of night boating, but it is what it is. Anyone ever thought about dropping a bouy or marker light on that rocky area? Nice looking boat too, what model?
That harbor is not great for night boating. There is no light at the entrance so at night it's very easy to think your heading for the mouth but instead your heading right for rocks.

@Willhound - Here's the entrance. The yellow line is the approximate rock line. At the south end they do have buoys to mark not to come too close to shore.
For point of reference the narrowest part is about 225 feet across - so plenty of room to navigate and avoid the rocks.

@Willhound - don't know about booze. At 1am depending on weather it can be difficult to see the rocks for an unfamiliar captain.
