Compass and housing

I have a 99 270, and my dash compass has started going dry. While removing it to check it out, the housing is very brittle and has started falling apart. I don't realy use it, but I don't want to put something there that looks cheesy either. Any suggestions?

They are not all that expensive and you can buy parts here I can't imagine anything else going there and I own the same exact boat.

Great website. Now, do you know what style/maker it is right off hand? I'm not anywhere near the boat to take a look, and I failed to look when I had it apart.

No you would probably have to remove it and find a number or measure the hole in the dash

I have the same problem with my 1998 captiva 272. cmelt, did you find which model fit? Also, did you have to take off the windshield to remove the old one and install the new? Thank you!

I have not found one to replace it yet. I will probably do it towards the end of the year, that way I don't have to deal with a giant hole in the dash. Plus, there was no quick disconnect plug for me to unhook the wiring with, so I'll have to investigate that more as well. But I do not have to do anything with the windshield.
