Hey guys need help. Every time i flush the toilet it smells terrilbe outside for just a minute then it goes away. I just had the tank emptied and i looked and didn't see any flowing anywhere..  help please.ty

You need to put holding tank treatment in the tank after every pump out. Buy at any camping or marine store. You also need to change your holding tank vent filter. Search this site to see where the filter is and how to re fill yourself for $20 instead of buying new for $100.

You should only eat butterflies and rosees when your going to poop in the boat. Or do as above treatment and a filter on the vent line. I also flush out my tank at a self serve pump out(if time allows).

You also might want to take the time to remove the tank and clean it. There can be years of sludge in there that needs to be removed.

When mine would get that wonderful aroma, about half way through the season. And we did use the blue stuff. I would flush, adding 1 gallon of bleach to about 10 gallons of water. It helped.

I'd also consider a filter for your waste tank vent.

Thanks @LaRea. I had never thought to look for a powdered form, especially in handy little packets. Like this better than messy liquids and easier to store on the boat too!
Have found a local version from Camco. Orange scent. Just have to be sure to not store it with the Orange Kool-Aid packs!

I get a 6-pack of CampaChem from WalMart for about $8.  Each bottle is enough for a single treatment.
