Kohler only starts when cold

The generator starts and runs fine when cold.  But if I turn it off, it will not start again until cold again.  Actually it starts when warm, but only runs for about five seconds.  Oh, and it is in a 390 Express Cruiser.

Do you have a sound cover on it?

Yes, there is a sound cover over it.

Try it without the service door panel installed.

Time for closure...  It turned out to be a corroded connector on the ground cable.

This comment has been shared a lot over the years - when you have a marine electrical malfunction ALWAYS look at the ground connection for corrosion and tightness. Many of us have found loose connections in the electrical panel
