speakers for wake tower

i have a 2005 rx1 captiva 212 with a wake tower with sony speakers, i have replaced them twice after 2 long haul vacations...blew out one speaker completely and the other had some small tears. what can i do to stop the speakers from blowing out during hauling, what brand speakers would be better? I do have some other marine 6 1/2" speakers but the bolt pattern and out side edges do not line up at all. thanks in advance!!

Based on my experience over multiple life cycles, and many postings here, Sony marine speakers are just crap.  You could do better with just about any reputable brand.  My current favorite is Wet Sounds, but this forum has lots of good recommendations.  

Best bet, go to a West Marine, Crutchfield or other store that has a display of multiple marine speakers ... find one that sounds good and doesn't say "Sony" on the box.  Sorry I can't be more specific.
