DI and Handy - this one's for you! This may be "Rinker Week" around here. I could not resist posting this old beauty. Don't see many of them in these here parts! :-)  A Fiesta Vee 410 with (are you ready Handy) diesels! Sure sounded nice (big side through hulls :-) when docking which is what caught my attention! Very nice MT!  I was just in a 410 at Rinkervous!  Not diesels though.  Was definitely a large, but different engine room.  First, with V-drives, those engines are just in there backwards! LOL!  Second, there is another stern compartment within the engine room.  Very interesting for sure.  In that compartment was where the rudder steering was.

I couldn't imagine a boat that size without a hard top. Thats an awful lot of canvas to deal .

I agree.  None of the 410s had hardtops, but all were inboards.  Not sure why the combination of inboard & no hardtop?

Agree that a hard top is best.... but I’d deal with canvas to have a 40-41 with inboard diesel. @Dirtythirty really has a glorious setup with the hard top and ips

I disagree about the hardtop. I think they are horrible. I know I know I am old school...lol It boils down to a matter of opinion.  I just like having the option of opening the boat or keeping it covered. I also dont like the hard top because I feel like I am driving a car instead of a boat......... Just saying.

It's personal preference combined with location.  In VA, the way-too-hot days greatly outnumber the "let the sunshine in" days.

Funny how two similar boats could be so different:  a gas 400 hardtop vs. a diesel 410 ragtop.

I do agree that some hardtops do give you that feel of driving a car (especially the ones with all windows).  Most of the hardtops on the Rinkers are bit higher up and very open from behind helm to the stern, so that closed feeling doesn't exist.  Again, all a matter of opinion.

At Rinkervous, we had them next to each other and you definitely noticed a temp difference.  We also had a 420 (same layout as 410, but really so much different as well).  Heck, we had a 370 near a 360 next to a 350 next to a 342!!   We needed the older style 370 though! :)

I have thought about that also...they really look nice, that's for sure....but, we also like the sun when we are out. These bigger boats however would offer the best of both as you can always sit on the back to get some sun and then escape it- the sunroof option would be nice and I'm sure it's nicer to close it up around the roof instead of all that canvas....my 270 has two bimini and 8 pieces to pull and argue together....if and when I hit the lottery, I'd probably go with a Carver and sit way on up there with the a/c going!

Yep...pretty sweet... I just can't deal with the cost of a boat in the water...

@shawnmjr was it a Mariner? I’ve been looking at them online for a possible future upgrade.

Im sure that if i had the pocket change to buy a 410 (diesel because its better) I'd be able to dig through the couch cushions and find enough cash to pay some of these custom hard top/tower guys to build one.

Agree. I just saw an early 2000s SR 41 with an after market hard top and was shocked how good it looked. Not weird at all.

My brother-in-law is building a hardtop for his SR 440.  I like to think I provided some inspiration for that idea.
