Windlass Bow Roller

The windlass bow roller is loose and shifts when retrieving the anchor.  Haven't really investigated much, is that mounted through the topside access hole or through the mirror at the v berth?  Can it be fixed by putting some kind of metal mounting plate on the underneath side?

Access is though the mirror. Some have upgraded this. I think I'll be looking in to this for winter project.

Finally getting around to this - how is the mirror removed.  I was messing with it for a few minutes and thought for sure I would break the mirror.

Mine is Velcro it’s a 270 
I have the same problem looked at it last year but couldn’t repack the nuts to tighten it I think I have to cut a bigger hole to reach in there

When I finally got my mirror off, I pulled off some of the Velcro for the future!

On the 342 its the vinyl piece below the mirror witch gives you access to a 6in port hole. If you want to access the bow roller the wall in the foward berth will have to come out.

I helped the previous owner of my 342 tighten up those bolts without taking the forward berth apart. It WAS NOT easy but I used a bunch of extensions to hold the nuts in place while the topside was tightened.

Velcro sounds a lot more manageable than pulling out the whole v-berth.  I was able to remove the small vinyl piece and saw the port hole but it's so small I couldn't even see up to where the nuts were.

I pulled the whole front berth wall off to get access. Bronze bushing to fix the wallowed out forward hole and epoxied in place. Bolt thru the bushing. Added backing plates to all three mount points. Pics from my 342.
