Waeco thermostat broken-ish

The thermostat on my galley fridge is not quite right.  The fridge works but it only gets marginally cold.  Turning the thermostat knob offers zero resistance, but it does stop at the limits and I was able to turn the fridge off.

The thermostat knob on my cockpit fridge has some resistance and the fridge runs nice and cold.  

I'm planning to remove/disassemble and if necessary replace the galley fridge thermostat.  I couldn't figure an easy way to remove the thermostat assembly (no visible screws); any tips before I end up breaking it?

I have the opposite issue, cockpit fridge is marginally cold but I just noticed that the door seal is missing. Anyone have a part number for the door seal for a Waeco CR-1065 cockpit fridge?

I might have one for you. I need to order a new door for my cockpit fridge. When I get it ordered and it comes in with a new seal, I will send you my old one.

Thanks @Cableguy Greg ! I’m actually thinking of just ordering a new door. I tried to paint the trim but don’t like how it looks. Do you have a part number? If I don’t order the door I’ll take the seal.

You may be able reverse the panel inside the door first.  I know the cockpit fridges have that capability, just not sure about the galley ones.

Yea, you can flip it but mine has rust staines on the inside.

Yes it is. It is the one with the white panel and silver frame.

I ordered the door today along with the flush mount flange kit (mine was in pretty bad shape, $100 for the flange kit). They were very happy to help me.

I wonder if the newer style door (with the center latch) would fit?  Seems the fridge hasn't changed much.



I need a new flange as well, did you go regular or stainless?

When I ordered it they asked for the part number and serial of the fridge I have, they didn’t give any options.

I am going to go with the SS flange as my flange is beyond repair:

I also wrapped the door in some white carbon vinyl I had laying around.

@YYZRC , find out if that SS flange kit comes with the bottom piece. I went to order a white flange kit from Cruisair and they told me the kit only comes with the top and sides. The bottom couldn’t be ordered unless I was to order 50 of them. I ordered the white kit and was able to get a silver bottom from Great Lakes Skipper, I’m going to get all of the pieces powder coated semi gloss white.

@Cableguy Greg , did you order your door yet? Make sure they send you the correct color. I received mine today, it was supposed to have the white insert but stainless was sent. I don’t mind installing the stainless door but now I have to decide if I should leave my new flange white or powder coat it silver. What do you guys think?

Is it the same style door as the original? My flange is silver, so I would not mind the stainless door. No, I have not ordered it yet.

I finally got my door ordered. It should arrive in a month or so. Looking forward to getting it replaced.

I have mine sitting in the garage along with the refrigerator, I won’t be able to put the refrigerator back in until the shrink wrap is off. I’m also looking forward to it being back in, looking nice and new.
