Electrical / Shore Power Question In Storage

My boat is in inside heated storage for the winter.  Can I use a 15amp circuit with a 15amp extension cord with a 30amp adapter to plug in to the one shore power connector to run lights and the battery charger?  Thinking while I'm there for a few hours at a time would be nice to use the on board battery charger.  I don't intend to leave that setup plugged in 24/7, only when I'm at the boat.

yes. A 15A cord with a 15A to 30A converter will power your battery charger just fine which will then give you lights, stereo and access to the engine room. My storage requires that the batteries be disconnected for safety so I disconnect in Oct and then reconnect in Feb when I start working on the boat. I charge while I am there but not when I leave. Side note, with the batteries disconnected but the boat plugged in to 15a and your charger switch on you should have 12v power for lights and engine room hatch. You shouldnt use this all winter but its nice to be able to get in this way to reconnect batteries.

I tried plugging in with the batteries removed and charger on, I had no 12 volt lights available. I will try again when I get a chance, maybe I didn’t have my battery selector on?

Not sure Aero, my battery switches are on when I do this and just the charger is on. Again I try to to do it as it cant be good for the system but it gives me 12v with no batteries.

Ramker - yes that adaptor will work. I bought mine on Amazon for under $30

Up until this year (I ran an underground 30 amp service), that is how I powered my boat on the hard until it was wrapped. If you run the stove then the cord will get hot and you may trip the 15a breaker but otherwise than that, you should be all set.
