Iac filter

2006 350 mpi- pulled the aresstor to clean it and to change the filter- I don't see one or where one to go? I have two hoses that come from the side of the intake/butterfly that go to what I assume is the iac mounted a few inches back from the intake towards the transom, just don't anywhere for one to go even if mine were missing?

@rasbury , this video shows where it goes if yours is in the throttle body.

Well...if he had gotten that  camerad in there..I'm attaching a picture of what I have...there are two slots on the transom side of the throttle body..there is nothing in there now.

While I want to make sure my setup is correct I really don't have an issue with idling hunting. my issue is more when I'm under way and I give it the gas and it starts to sputter and spit it was firing back and all kinds of stuff. I assumed it was from sitting so long and bad fuel but I have run it out. sometimes it does it,  sometimes it does not. I'm on the water today and it ran pretty good. But I was plaining out running across the lake and it started to cut back a little on power. It might just be time for a new wires and plugs. I'm at 300 hours I put one set of plugged in when I first got it but I'm on the same set of wires I started with. I put all new filters in...it is not back firing any more and I did clean out the arrestor...

I believe the muffler/filter should be in the slot on the right in the picture (port side).

Do you have a whistle coming from your throttle body? It could be missing or it could be jammed down in the slot.

I could not see anything but I was in a hurry to get to the water..I'd hate to stick it the wrong hole and blow it into the intake...

Agree with aero on location but it’s been a couple few years so hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm.

Number six in the breakdown is that little filter you're looking for. Can you use your phone or a light to look down in there, thr e pic is a little dark?  Im still rocking a carbed 5.7 so i dont have any experience with iac issues/service other than a few Hondas i owned back in my 20s that needed a the iac screen cleaned out every now and again.  They were metal screens.

You guys all have me thinking I need to check this for maintenance in the spring. But only a filter on the one side?

I assume was is a pull and the other a return to the throttle body? Put it in the wrong one and it may blow out and go into the manifold...that top pic shows it on the right side and I will get a better look at it...

@Handymans342 what do you expect from a parts breakdown produced by an engineer?   I constantly have customers ask me for a diagram so they can see how something goes back together.  Unless you have the equipment in front of you to take pics yourself, breakdowns like these are about the best you can find.

So I did get the filter some time ago and finally got it installed...the filter is about an inch and a quarter longer...the slot is maybe a half inch deep...to you cut it down some or just jamb the whole thing in there? I did the latter but concered it will raise back up and fall into the manifold as there is nother really holding it in place...

@rasbury , I believe there are two different size filters. It won’t be an issue if you cut it to fit.

I think I will trim that baby up a bit....does not look like a filter that really would do much anyway unless it sucked a bug in there or something...and I guess we don't have to worry much about dust and dirt....
