Boat Test Review of 270EX

A typical fluff piece from Boat Test, but still nice to see a write up on the venerable 270. No performance figures as they didn't actually drive the boat, but that is often the case with these reviews, they depend on marketing material and shots from the manufacturer. And of course, one obligatory semi-bikini shot!

Hummmm, The standard engine is the MerCruiser 6.2L 300-hp with the Bravo III drive included in the base price of $108,533. I did not know what they cost new.

A 2018 at the Toronto Boat Show last year with radar arch and some other upgrades was shown for  $132,529 CDN. So about an even 100 G's US. So $108 for a base 2019 would be about full list.

Is that down from what a simlar models we're a few years back? We looked at something at the Lauderdale boat show I thought similar to our 270 and it was like 180? Must have been twins...that's not bad...looks like a nice boat. The one we saw must have been loaded up...

Do they offer a big block still? Without it that boat is way to heavy .

That boat would be nice with a single Yanmar in it.

There was a huge discussion on this awhile back that probably doesn't need to be rehashed. Could probably find the thread. But for comparison my 2000 is the wider heavier hull with a 5.7 EFI that rates from 260 to 280 hp depending on what specs you look at and it easily gets on plane with 4 or 5 on board and has hit 42mph on a calm day with a clean hull. That 6.2 should be just fine. Okay, let 'er rip!

I'm find with my 350...runs nice at about 28 which is fine by me.....most of the time I'm just going fast enough to steer.
