Does anyone else here collect boat hardware???

I have buckets full of hardware. If i part out a boat i save anyting stainless or brass.  Cleats, hinges, rails, screws, nuts etc.  Especially post 1990s hardware, i find 60s and 70s vintage stainless to be about the longest lasting although back then there where were lots of slotted screws which i don't super like but for small hinges, light fixtures they work fine. 

Since i don't have that much luck going fishing i figured id put an old tackle box better to use.  The last pic is how i used to store this crap. I got tired of spending an hour to find hardware.

I sometimes find that weekends on the water is the best time for me to do little projects on the boat. Usually the admiral works until 5 or 6pm on Saturdays so if i get to the lake at 9am i can enjoy a few beers and work on the boat half the day before she arrives.  This will make carrying supplies with me much easier as well as finding them

I don't even want to talk about my collection of nails/screws, std  and metric hardware.  I've got buckets and boxes of stuff from vehicles ive parted, left over from lift kits, engine swaps and motorcycle builds.  Need to do a 5 speed conversion in your 5 speed b5 or b5.5 passat, i got you lol.  My projects drive the little lady nuts...i cant live where there is an h.o.a.

I do have a nice nut and bolt bin but it needs reorganization.  I have more in coffee cans/buckets than in do in a proper bin.  I cant seem to bring myself to throw away hardware.

Yeah, I never throw away fasteners ... especially stainless.

I had to do it!
Funny, I would always dig through the ziplock and bin when I needed something. Now it should be nice and easy. All stainless and boat related. I have a smaller tool box I’ll put the larger stuff in.

Yes collecting boat hardware always comes in handy.

Nice job @aero3113 but my OCD would insist separating those star washers from the windscreen canvas clips and the hex bolt with the screws....

@icoultha , I would’ve but wanted to keep the organizer on the small side. Makes it easy to grab and bring out to the boat.

I get it @aero3113, the top of my tool box with some compartments is less organized for the same reason - not enough separate sections.
