Anchor Locker

Does anyone store anything in the anchor locker? Seems like there is good useable space in it. I’m thinking of storing my 2 spring lines and winch wrench in a covered plastic bin to stay dry in it. Probably on the port side to stay away from the chain/line.

Never considered it but I suppose I would if I really was maxed out in the cockpit. I had so much space under the seats in the 342 that I didn’t need it. If I was going to store things up there I’d get it the heck out if I were going to use the anchor. You wouldn’t want those spring lines getting caught in the anchor chain and damaging the pulpit or windlass gears.

I would think in a container with a snap on/lock top will be fine. Safer to climb up the walk through empty handed. Most of the time I would like to drop and raise the anchor via the foot switches to keep an eye on things anyway.

Isn't that where you're going to store the hose for your anchor wash down?  B)

@YYZRC , if I do install the hose it will be a coil type that will take up little space. It can even be stored in a flush mount bin that has a drain connected to the anchor locker drain.

I do like the idea of having a bow line and spring handy, always that moment of passing around 4-5 lines. Would also love to have a super soaker up there for disrespectful jet skis and kayaks!

It’s a Lewmar 1000 , when I bought the boat the previous owner told me he never used it. I opened the anchor locker and it still had the safety warning tie wrap on it. So it’s pretty much new old stock and works fine for now.

My anchor locker gets dirty more often than not. I wouldn't want to store a line in there. The other issue would be if it moved and caused an issue with the anchor line going up or down.

The lines would be stored in a bin with a snap on/lock top.
