Hull wrapping

Many people these days are vinyl wrapping their cars and boats.  I have seen a few companies who are using the wrap under the waterline, in place of antifouling paint.  I would assume like paint, the hull would need to be adequately prepped.  I would also worry about water intrusion.  What does everyone think?

WoW, never heard of wrap being used like that. Does it prevent growth?
