Aluminium or Bronze Prop?

Hi all, I need to get a new duo prop for my 270FV with that has a Volvo D4-260 Diesel engine but not sure whether to get Aluminium (£600) or Bronze (£1600).

The price difference is significant, is there a downside to Aluminium?

Appreciate some opinion or advice

thanks

It spent the first 14 years of its life on fresh water cruising up and down rivers, but for the last year (since I’ve owned it) and from now on always Salt water

Woof, do you have a B3 ? Are your other prop's bent up or bad. They can be rebuilt.

It’s a duo prop set up. The previous owner bored out the internals to fit new bushings but they have are now destroyed which has left the prop unrepairable.  Max speed 7knots@3500 revs

If on a budget id buy aluminum then save for the stainless.  Keep an eye on the used market for a set.  It costs about 60 bucks a prop locally to repair knicked up fins. When you get the stainless keep the aluminum for spares, spare props are great to have.

I don't mind aluminum in light boats, your 270 is not a light boat, but it will work.

Bronze im not familiar with.  Id also ask my local prop shops if they have experience repairing bronze props before id buy.  If they don't seem up for the repair, avoid them.   You will eventually get knicks in your props and need them serviced.

Aluminum and stainless are the go to in my area.

It's a Volvo Randy. I searched them and even in the States the Aluminum for $650USD and up a pair.

Is a Volvo d4-260 diesel. £600 Aluminium or £1500 Bronze or £2000 for SS.

shes kept in salt water 100% of time so I think Bronze is going have to do
