How do you keep birds from nesting in your anchor locker?

@Willhound that's probably the right path.  It doesn't need to be all that close to the rode -- just close enough to keep a bird out.  Heavy-duty rubber would survive the occasional hit from the chain.  And it would not involve any sharp edges.

I am wondering if i could make a frame for a garbage disposal splash guard.  Slide it over the chain and reconnect. The only thing i am not sure of is if the rubber will be heavy enough to keep the birds from squeezing through.

Seems like the perfect amount of flexibility.  It would not take much of a deterrent to keep birds out.  You could cut it and make it U-shaped for easier handling of the chain.  Maybe hold it in place with velcro so there's no permanent modification to the fiberglass.
