Automatic Fire System check

I've got a Sea-Fire FD200M system on board. Never had an auto-fire system before.

I know it been discussed before, couldn't find the thread. My understanding is that the cylinder needs to be checked every 5 years? Does it need to be removed & sent out for testing? Or, can I have a certified guy just stop by & tag it?

@mattie , what’s the PVC tube under the extinguisher?

These are checked/recertified by weight. If you can find a fire ex place near you that will recertify it, just take it in. Mine is only certified for (1) year. Costs me $5 to get recertified. Marina charged me near $100 to have a service out to certify.

Solid tube is part of the blower system. (pretty slick eh?)

Called our local testing outfit. They are gonna figure it out. Hopefully since it’s the 1st test they can just give it a once over & re tag it.

Doesn't it matter how old the tank is to be recertified?  I couldn't bring a 20 year old tank in.

Mine is 17 years old now 😱. The only issue they told me is that if it discharges or leaks you can no longer service it (halon). Would have to upgrade to the new stuff which means a bigger tank too they said.
