siphon hose

Anyone use those shaker style siphon hoses with the ball in it? I have had a few and they seem to only work a few times then I can't get a siphon. Tried it tonight. Pretty sure the hose I have now I have only used once or twice. Fought with it about 20 minutes tonight and gave up. Had my fuel can about 1' higher than the target tank. These things are fantastic when they work but seems like I need to buy a new one every 1 or 2 uses

    @boatman37......are you the guy who was at my marina a couple of years ago who tried to drain my EC 360? I have my FAC now and a nice shot gun. (just kidding) :-)

    I have one and it works great. I picked it up at Lowe’s. I just used it to put 68 gallons of fuel in my boat. A dock mate of mine has the Harbor Freight one and the hose collapses from the pressure.

    Tried again today pumping out of 5 gallon cans sitting on swim platform. Gauge was on E and need enough to get to fuel dock. Both cans pumped down to about 1/4 left then lost suction on both cans

    For the last bit I find it helps if you tilt the can and make sure the head of the siphon stays fully submerged.

    Yeah but there was still about 3" in the bottom so shouldn't have lost siphon
