Flaky fuel level readings

The readings on the gauge are all over. Every where from the 1/4 tank to just over 1/2. I have no confidence in the information. It is an 85 gallon tank, so I don't necessarily want to keep it topped off due to weight. But I want confidence that a half a tank will take me where I want to go. I realize you are dealing with measuring fluid in a moving boat, but I don't trust that the either the sending unit of the Faria indicator, which is part of a cluster, is off. Is there a way to verify that the sending unit is on? I wouldn't be able to do anything with the cluster, except, of course, buy a new boat.

You'll need to have the fuel tank level low enough to pull the until out without spilling fuel.
Have a new sealing washer and fuel compatible pipe doping handy for reinstall.
You should be able to Google the specs of your ohms by part number.

These are more accurate. I have the old school style in my boat, i dont plan on upgrading but i can swap it out in less time than it takes me to drink a beer. When i installed my new fuel tank future service was factored into the new custom tank. 14.99 for the cheap ones and ill replace every 3 to 5 years.
