safe on my 342

I need to replace the batteries on my safe.  According to the mfg, there are two little screws on the right side of the black box that holds the safe electronics.  I was told to remove those screws and remove the cover plate to get at the batteries.  I removed the screws but can seem to get the little cover plate to move and I'm afraid of cracking it if I emply the ever handy small screw driver to try to pry it out.  Tough to see since there is only 3 inches between the safe and the cabinet wall where the safe is mounted.  Any one famililar with this that can tell me how to remove that cover plant?
