Expensive first weekend of boating.

Noticed port starter battery was really weak when we went to leave home.  Used emergency mode and started both engines.  Lesson learned, go get new batteries when that happens.  Spent Saturday night on the hook and work up unable to crank genny or engines.  Got a friend to give me a ride home and went to home depot for new pair of starter batteries.  $$

Then since we were down to 1/4 tank filled the tanks at a marina for $2.29 a gallon. $$

But we should be good (knock wood) for a while.

Hope everyone has a safe weekend.

A couple batteries and a tank of fuel, you call that expensive its a boat what could possibly go wrong. Fuel was 3.09 on the water.

A battery and fuel, that isn't so bad.  Glad all is ok and hope you enjoyed the weekend!

Those are great battery prices. I spent nearly that or right at that much with my shop discount right from the distributor.

Either way id have paid with a huge smile on my face.  We also get a business discount at orileys and they would have been much more than that.  I prefer going through my distributor but sometimes you need a battery now.

I dont have access to battery invoices at home and msrp varies by location but 190 to 200 a pop seems right.

Definitely a great price. I paid $142 + Tax for the same battery from Lowe's - lowest I could find - but I had to order and wait a week.

You got off cheap.  Now you're squared away for a few more years!  Fuel on the water on my lake is $4.98 a gallon currently!  I rarely use it, other than a top-off.  73 gallon tank, on a 232 is a huuuuuge range.  I love it

We put new starter batteries on our 342 last year. Last weekend was the last one for our house batteries. Time for new ones for this weekend.

I was a replace every 3 years with lead-acid batteries. That year 4 was iffy. After a new charger, I upped to the Northstar Lead AGM’s. Plan is to get ~7 + years I hope!  They are beasts for marine CCA.

$3.20 on the water for rec fuel (no ethanol, has Valvetech). 185 gallons. lol

Bought two new batteries today.  My Deka marine's made it 3 years, and when they started to get weak, I had a couple various electrical issues.  New batts cleared that up pronto.

Looks like he just got the boat in May although it also looks like he has millions in other toys so I'm sure he will be fine.

sure makes you wonder how some people with so little sense amass so much money...if I had just got mixed up with the kid at the hospital where I was born....

LoL! That’s funny! I actually did get mix up when I was born! They figured it out later when they realized I wasn’t a girl! And I Brest fed off the mother. If that happened these days, I sure a big law suit would’ve happened.

That’s not a speed boat, its a Pavati wakeboard boat, and they can easily top $300K, with options. I didn’t read the story posted here, but the story I got from someone in the area was that he was beating on the boat pretty hard, blew up the motor, and it threw a rod through the hull. They swam to the house, and put the Jeep at the edge of the bank and tried to use the wench to pull the boat in. The Jeep couldn’t hold its footing, so they got the raptor out and tied it to the Jeep, which ultimately led to both of them going in the drink.

Sure sounds like a good way to get out of several payments at once......
