Analog Tach Wandering

Anyone else have their analogue tach just randomly go up and down while the engine is idling?

No change in engine sound, and digital tach on the garmin stays right on the money.

    Faria? Yes. When I start it indicates about 1300 then I tap it and it goes to about 800. As it moves around from throttle change it is not very accurate. Sometimes in cruise it will wander upwards and it needs a tap.

    Yes, it's a common problem in Faria tachs from the mid-2000's.  Sometimes it can be temporarily solved by re-seating the plug on the back-side of the tach, or chasing issues with ground connections.

    The Faria Walk ... yup. You can pull the gauge off. There's a dial in the back to select cylinders. Some times you can switch it off and back ... and it steadies out.

    I had mine rebuilt by Faria here in Ct. 3 years ago and last time out my port tach started to wander. Hoping it was just a long winter and things will steady out

    Someone is selling the Kronos faria tach with hour meter on Amazon. Just in case anyone wants to replace theirs.
