We picked ours up off the boat and brought it to the hotel for my 2 months of training. The lobby had good coffee but the room coffee wasn't good.

Found my substitute for the Chulux..that fits my favourite tall height travel mugs. Not much wider or deeper than the cup, albeit a little taller.

@aero3113 I modded my Chulux this morning! Cord was way too long so I stuffed the excess into the “hull” of the Chulux and zip tied it in place. Almost effortless.

You can see the zip tie I added just beside the red wire.

Nice @YYZRC! I leave mine in the cabinet above the galley sink. I plug it into the port side plug near the sink when I use it so the long cord works for me.

Got sick of my old coffee maker on the boat with filters and a caraffe that is not heated and bought a Chulux for the boat. Thinking I got a defective unit. Is this normal....

Plug in, unlock/open lid, insert K-cup, pour in water, close lid, lock lid, press on button. then it blinks while I hear it heating the water. For 5 min heater cycles on and off, light blinks, never brews. Then I got impatient and opened & Closed the lid and it brewed. Should I have left it heating/blinking for more than 5 min? How long is the cycle?

    Thanks

I don’t have to open mine once the cycle starts and I don’t think mine takes that long, @YYZRC?

Mine does take a while, the admiral complains that it is slow but it makes hotter coffee than any other pod-based coffee maker that I have used so I don’t mind the wait!

I will add that you have to push the lid down hard so that it punctures the pod. Maybe the first time you were too gentle @Liberty44140 ?

Thanks gang. I think this may have been a classic case of ICS (inpatient captain syndrome). When YYRC said it’s piping hot that made me think I was just not waiting long enough as it was hot enough, but not piping. So I just let it go for another round without my lid popping intervention, and set a stopwatch. In actuality within 3 minutes the light automatically stopped blinking and it started brewing on its own. Entire cycle from start to finish was 4:30…. So actually pretty good! And was piping hot. My bad….

also did Aeros cord mod, it was way too long

It was @YYZRC ‘s cord mod! I left mine long because I leave it in the cabinet above the galley sink and plug it into the port outlet while brewing.

Ahh sorry YYRC - was a good mod, helped with storage. That is one of the reasons I went Chulux, it fits nicely in a cabinet that is not high and frees up a lot of space in a food cabinet that the old coffee maker consumed.

Well, last weekend the Chulux started acting strange. It would pump a bit of water and then shut off. I had to press the power button 4 or 5 times to finish the brew.

It was a good run but time for a new one next spring!

Any chance it just needs a de scaling with vinegar? If you email them they do respond

If it operates like a Keurig it could be the needle that punctures the pod. Coffee grounds can get caught in the needle. We had the same symptoms and found if you carefully clean out the needle with a paper clip water started flowing freely again and problem solved. Hopefully yours can be that easy.

    I can’t not!

Also, despite my threats of needing a new Chulux, it is running 100% so far this season. I think it just needed to hibernate.

I have one on the big boat and the few times it was used it did a great job. Easy to store and does the job. Boat approved

Well, its a bit of a sad day. The Chulux has been acting up lately. It won't pump a full load through; we have to restart it several times. Ordering a new one but need advice on which model.

We have this one which is 1000w and has served us well:

Debating whether we should switch to the 800w version (I believe @aero3113 and @Aqua_Aura both have this one):

    Thoughts?

@YYZRC is it possible it needs to be descaled? Maybe run some vinegar through it.

Tried that, no dice. I think the pump is shot.

Try putting a paperclip up through the needle. Lots of times that gets clogged with coffee grounds over time. We still have a first gen Keurig and between cleaning the needle and descaling with vinegar a couple of times a year it's still going strong.
