Generators with digital hour meter

This boat is my first with a digital Kohler hour meter on the genny, previous had analog. I've learned that the hour meter is always lit up (not counting just on) while the battery is on. Doesnt go out after X amount of time. I leave the batteries on all summer. Do you guys do the same and just leave the hour meter illuminated all summer? Or do you shut off the battery after each outing? Thanks.

Never realized it stays on, or atleast I never thought about it. I turn my batteries off when I am in my slip and leave the shore power on. If I lose my shore power I would prefer my fridge get warm rathe than drain my batteries.

I’ve been leaving my battery switch on and my generator switch off when not in use.

I should turn the battery switch off to prevent what @Aqua_Aura said.

Yea I’m the same as AA, I turn my dc panel totally off so that the fridge won’t run on battery, just shore. But my main battery switches stay on always. By turning off the dc panel you stop battery to the fridge

If you turn off your battery switch wont that kill your bilge pump?

Bilge pump should be direct to the battery, not through the switch.

If you turn off your main battery switch your manual bilge pump switch at the helm likely won’t work but yes as aero said it will be hard wired also so even if the helm switch is inactive the float and pump should work no matter what.
