Trim Up solenoid on the trim pump bracket. Easy fix. Blue wire is the up solenoid, green wire is the down solenoid. Easy to remember, blue Up= sky. Green down= grass. You might be able to get some time out of it if you need, tap it with a screwdriver a couple times.
The pump has three wires that go to it. One is the ground and 1 supplies power to make Hydraulics go up the other supplies power to make the Hydraulics go down just follow the wiring and you can test which way the motor will work by bypassing the solenoids.
I will give it a try. New solenoid should be here Wednesday.
maybe another solenoid problem: end of last season I was having issues starting the boat. Turn the key and nothing, not a sound. I keep trying the key and eventually it fires right up. So far this season no issues but I’m guessing I will soon. Starter solenoid?
The starting issue could be a few things. Did you jiggle the throttle lever any? Sometimes the neutral safety switch gets a little out of adjustment and you have to give the lever a little wiggle and try it again. The ignition switch itself is also fairly common to go out. I actually carry a spare one with me.
Thank you @69fastback. I did jiggle the throttle and nothing. I was wondering about the ignition switch. Would you mind sending along the one you bought? Might be good just to swap out to be safe.
Mine has done that too...pulled up fot6 lunch and go to leave...nothing...left the key on by accident and called sea tow...before they got there I heard the beep beep beep and it fired right up...
@06Rinker270 nope....did it one other time for just a second but then started...last time sat for 30 minutes and then all of sudden the alarms started going off so I knew the ignition had power and fired it up!
I have an 04 FV270 MAG350 mpi 2 years ago started having issues. Turned out the engine computer was on the way out. Eventually died and boat would not start at all
I have a 1994 Rinker 18 ft bowrider. The trim switch on throttle arm will lower the outdrive but not raise it. However the trailer trim switch on the throttle arm WILL raise the outdrive. I'm confused.
mine does the same thing...so I do the up with the trailer position! One of these days I'll get around to sorting it out...probably in the switch somewhere....
One side of outdrive has a limit switch so you can't raise above safe height underway- aka the trim switch... the other side has one for your gauge.
Lower your drive all the way... loosen the limit switch (puck on port side of drive) enough to be able to turn it. Raise your B3 23.75" exposed ram... turn the puck until your trim switch won't move it... that simple. Tighten it down. Your drive will now operate with the trim switch but not beyond 23.75" which is safe limit for B3s.
The other side is for the gauge..... and it is a PITA to adjust. Lower drive all the way and turn the puck slowly and slightly until it reads full down on the gauge.... tighten and raise drive... hope the drive reads too on the gauge when you hit the limit, if not, go back and start again.

Needed to replace the ECM
Another question that is related. How often do you add oil to the outdrive trim bracket? Does it need to be drained and new oil added?
