AC issues on a 290ec

So my AC seems to be shot. According to the AC repair person, there is a valve that switches the air between cold and hot called something like a reverse valve. This valve seems to be shot and so the AC is only cooling 10 degrees from ambient temperature.
To replace the valve, he would charge me $1,300. A new AC would be $2,600 so I need to replace the AC.
Before I replace the AC, wanted to check in here to see if anyone else has had a similar issue.
Thanks.

I would say if you can, go with this one https://www.coastalclimatecontrol.com/index.php/air-conditioning/marinaire-compact-air-conditioning.html#!/MarinAire-16k-Btu-marine-air-conditioning/p/114390055/category=25823726 , way under 2600 dollars and quiet, comes with a cool control panel, remote, 3 fan speeds, etc...
The one thing to do before you start is measure how big your current one is space wise and make sure that this one will fit in it. It took me about 3 hours from start to finish to swap it out... however, be aware that even the best ones are said to only drop the temp 10 to 15 degrees...
I just went through this and found this site was the cheapest overall price, even though they charge shipping.
