Battery Switch Question.

Newbee. Here. Can someone explain the battery switch to me please. I have a 2004 270 Fiesta Vee. It has 1, 2, off and emergency start.
What position should it be in and when.
Thanks in advance

welcome to the forum. Lots of helpful people here. Use either 1 or 2. It isolates the batteries so if you anchor out and have the fridge and stereo going you switch to the other to get started. Emergency is if both are weak it will use power from both to get you started. Good luck with your new boat

And bank 1 is usually starter batteries and 2 is house batteries for fridges, lights, radio etc. A starter and house battery are usually built a little different for the different draws.

In our old boat I used two dual-purpose batteries, so for all intents and purposes they were identical and could be used interchangeably. On odd days I would start the engine with Battery 1 and use Battery 2 as the deep cycle, and on even days reverse. It worked well.
