Table pedestal

MarkBMarkB Member Posts: 3,962 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hello all. I have a Rinker 260 EC.

On deck I have a table that mounts via a pedestal in between my aft seats.

The table post is positioned in the center of the rear 3 seater seat (one connected to engine compartment door).

This pushes the table a little to far to port side and constrains the space available to walk past where the sink on deck is.

I was wondering if anyone has found an offset post (one that comes up and then bends before coming up again to offset the center point by a few inches)?  This would be a lot easier than changing my post hole and carpets.

Thanks - Mark

Make a model out of PVC then have it fabricated

Agree. Lay it out and go to a fab shop that works with aluminum. They can rework yours to suite.

Well thanks guys. It was pretty simple - took the table and post into a machine shop and said please weld me on a branch offset by 6". I am keeping the original vertical post insert there, so basically I can put the table into the original position (post) or the branch which is 6" offset - and now can decide depending on circumstances which position is best to use!

Will be ready tomorrow - $100.

    Great suggestion guys! Thanks!

not bad, one Boat Unit in cost.  Spray the fresh aluminum with clear krylon or similar or you'll get the AL oxide crap all over your hands and anything else it touches.

So you can imagine we can swivel the table top around 360 degrees now and change the position. I can move it closer to one seat if I want (say the small kids are eating there), I can move it further away from my walkway, etc. - al by rotating the post and/or table top.  Worked out better than I expected (I didn't foresee that extra perk!).

Very nice Mark!  It's amazing how those little changes can make enjoying the boat that much better!...I'm thinking patent?

Once you disclose, you lose rights to a patent.  Just saying.

No need for a patent. I'd be happier just knowing someone else can make good use of the idea.

Very versatile. I just moved the bracket under the table to one edge to centre it but your way gives you multiple options!

There's a sticker on the post. Might have the manufacturers details on it. I will check this weekend.
