Inverter for TV

I’m going to add a 120v TV to the front of the v berth and I want it to run on 12v always. Specs say 70 watts to run it. I’ve read that some of the high wattage inverters always put out their full wattage regardless of load (eg continuous 2000w) and subsequently eat through batteries. 

Can I go with a cheap circa 150w modified sine wave inverter? Just want to watch some tv on the hook without the genny shakin the cutlery.

Many TV’s run on 12V power packs anyway, do you really have one that is 120VAC?

I haven’t got the tv yet but I’m sure it will be DC just not sure of voltage.

Some inverters have efficiency ratings. An inverter that's 90% efficient should only take 78 watts driving a 70 watt load.

Some TVs run on 19 VDC.  You can get a converter (12 VDC to 19 VDC) for about $20.

I have been looking for a new TV for on my boat. I was looking at a 24" Vizio and it does not have the external pack. Hopefully I will be able to find something other than the cheaply made, terrible picture RV 12VDC tv's.
