Windlass Stops during wind in

My Windlass works fine dropping the anchor and when pulling chain. But when pulling the line it keeps stopping and I have to back off a little to start again. I think its a Line getting stuck issue but wanted to check before buying new line. Anyone else seen this issue.

Yes. Sounds like the rode (line) is jamming. It could be the line but could also be a badly worn gypsy (pulley) on the windlass in which case a new rode will not help. Also possible the rode is twisting causing it to jam. The cure for that is to either get in really deep water where you can let all the rode out and let it untwist or else at the dock while bow in remove the anchor, let all the rode out and starting at the windlass pull it through your hands all the way to the end as many times as it takes to untwist. You'll be amazed how twisted up they can get.
