Trying to figure out how to keep the hatch in the head open.

The port light in the head does not stay up. (Insert little blue pill jokes here) I had an idea to use silicone to glue a snap male to the window then use a short piece of nylon webbing with female snaps on the ends to attach to the snap on the window and one I would put on the ceiling of head.
But the silicone will not hold the metal snap. The snap just popped off.
So now I'm scratching my head looking at this port light thinking it can't be this tough.
Has anybody solved this problem?

Pop the white cap?
Drill a hole?
Are we taking about the window?
